Hello, everyone! Today, we’re excited to show you how to upgrade your 2015-2018 Mercedes C-Class with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. This upgrade will give your car a modern touch and enhance your driving experience. Let’s get started!
Step 1: Preparation
First, let’s take a look at the original infotainment system and the tools you’ll need for this installation:
- Trim removal tools
- Screwdrivers (Phillips and flathead)
- The new 12.3-inch screen and its power cables
Step 2: Remove the Silver Button Panel
Use your trim removal tools to pry open the silver button panel. Loosen the screws inside and then remove the entire central control panel. Disconnect all the plugs on the back.
Step 3: Remove the Original Head Unit
Next, remove the original head unit by loosening the screws and disconnecting the plugs on the back.
Step 4: Remove the Original Screen
Pry open the panel above the original screen, loosen the screws inside, and remove the screen. Disconnect the plugs on the back.
Step 5: Thread the New Power Cable
Thread the new power cable from the bottom to the top of the dashboard.
Step 6: Install the New Screen's Base
Install the base for the new screen. Connect all the cables on the back of the new screen and secure it in place.
Step 7: Connect the New Power Cable
Detach the original car’s fiber optic cable and connect it to the new power cable. Then, connect the original power cable. The other end goes into the original head unit. After connecting, secure the head unit with screws.
Step 8: Reconnect the Plugs and Reinstall the Panels
Reconnect all the plugs on the back of the large central control panel and reinstall it. Secure it in place and then reinstall the silver button panel as well.
Step 9: Final Installation
Here’s how it looks when it’s roughly installed. The new system supports the original car system and retains the original knob controls. It also synchronizes real-time air conditioning data.
Step 10: Features of the New System
The upgraded system features:
- High-spec model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage
- Support for local or online video playback during breaks
- Digital instrument cluster
- Wireless CarPlay: Make calls, listen to music, use maps for navigation, and more
This system can be configured for both right-hand and left-hand drive configurations.
