TRANSFORM YOUR 2004-2008 LEXUS RX: FREE LARGE SCREEN UPGRADE TUTORIAL

In UNSER BLOG 0 Kommentar

Today, we're diving into an exciting project: upgrading the center control screen on a 2004 to 2008 Lexus RX. Whether you're looking to enhance functionality or modernize your ride's interior, this guide will walk you through each step.

Step-by-Step Guide to Upgrade

Step 1: Remove the Gear Shift Decorative Panel

First, let's take a look at the original central control. To begin, carefully remove the decorative panel around the gear shift. This gives us access to the components we need to upgrade.

Step 2: Take Out the Cigarette Lighter Panel

Next, remove the cigarette lighter panel. There's no need to disconnect or remove this part entirely; simply set it aside to make room for the next steps.

Step 3: Unscrew the CD Player

Locate and unscrew the four screws securing the CD player. Once unscrewed, gently remove the player and disconnect all the plugs at the back.

Step 4: Remove the Original Screen

Now, unscrew the two screws holding the original screen in place. Remove the screen and, similar to the CD player, disconnect all the plugs on the back.

Step 5: Transfer the Original Air Vents

We'll need the original air vents for the new unit. Remove these vents from the old screen and install them onto the new unit. Attach the two metal parts to the new unit as well.

Step 6: Route the New Wires

Here's where we start integrating the new technology:

  • GPS Antenna: Route this wire to the A-pillar.
  • 4G Antennas: There are two; route these similarly to the A-pillar.
  • Video Input Cable: This will be part of the new system.
  • USB Transmission Cables: Route these to the glove compartment.
  • RCA Audio Cable: Ensure this is connected for sound.

Step 7: Connect the Original Car Plugs

Connect the original car plugs to the new unit. Match the plugs according to size; if a plug doesn't match, do not force it.

Step 8: Install the Protocol Box and Power Lines

  • Protocol Box: There are two protocol boxes to connect. These are crucial for integrating the new unit with the car's existing systems.
  • New Power Lines: Connect these to the protocol port on the car machine.
  • Button Panel Plug: Ensure this is connected for button functionality.
  • Reverse Video Output Plug: Connect this to retain the reverse camera function.
  • Car Radio Plug: Plug the original car radio connector into the new unit.
  • OGD Plug: Connect this to the original car socket.
  • Black Screen Power Plug: This is the final connection for the new screen.

Step 9: Install the New Unit

After all connections are complete, install the new unit and secure it in place. Reinstall the cigarette lighter panel and the gear shift decorative panel.

Step 10: Setup and Configuration

With the hardware installed, it's time to set up the protocol. This setup allows you to use the original car's air conditioning, steering wheel buttons, and reverse camera. Additionally, the new unit supports:

  • Local and online music apps.
  • Adjustable sound tone.
  • Local and online video streaming, including Tiktok.
  • Automatic search for local radio stations.
  • Local and online maps (like Gaode and Baidu).
  • Bluetooth phone and music.
  • Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto.
  • Huawei HiCar.

Use the voice assistant to make calls, listen to songs, and use various smartphone applications.

That's it for this upgrade! Your Lexus RX now has a modernized control screen packed with new features.
